About Matt Tate
I am a 3rd year BEng Mechatronics student at Stellenbosch University, and am currently sitting on the Engineering Student Council Executive as Chairperson. In 2020, I graduated from a gap year with Quest Africa - an outdoor life skills programme focusing on character, skills andleadership development - where I learnt that I am capable of so much more than expected when faced with challengesoutside my comfort zone. Aside from physical fitness, navigation and survival skills, I gained much “hands-on” technical experience at Quest Africa, including servicing cars & bakkies; welding, cutting, grinding and carpentry and more, all within a context of team management & leadership and project planning & budgeting. I have a broad range of interests, from anything digital or technical to exploring the outdoors and various sporting endeavours. Most importantly, I am an approachable, cheerful person with a hunger for learning and will do my best to make a positive impact on your team.
