About Matt Watson

I build systems that turn chaos into clarity. From scaling jewelry insurance replacements to architecting AI platforms, I thrive where complexity meets opportunity.I’m the founder of Exponenture and the creator of SILVA — an intelligent platform that keeps valuations of precious possessions accurate, updated, and insurance-ready. SILVA was born out of a problem I saw firsthand: customers losing out when outdated valuations left them underinsured. Today, we use AI to transform messy certificates into real-time, insurer-grade valuations that protect both people and businesses. Core focus areas:Building AI-powered products that solve real-world inefficienciesDesigning scalable system architectures (Supabase, microservices, event-driven)Bridging industries — from gemology and insurance to SaaS and fintech My career spans founder roles, directorships, and operational leadership, with deep roots in both technology and gemology. I hold a BCom in Marketing & Entrepreneurship from Stellenbosch University and am a Graduate Gemologist (GIA). That blend of business strategy, technical know-how, and domain expertise lets me operate at the intersection of vision and execution. Always open to conversations with insurers, investors, and innovators who see the opportunity in transforming how we protect and value what matters most.
