About Matteo Prati

I started my studies at the high school of applied sciences A. Volta (Sassuolo, MO, Italy). After graduation I enrolled in the computer science course at the E. Ferrari faculty of engineering (Modena, MO, Italy). At the beginning of my 2nd year I entered the new Formula Student Hybrid project, opened in 2017, of which I became Electronic Division Leader. In 2020 I became Team Principal of Formula Student Hybrid Team. Within the project, I worked on many projects and acquired a lot of knowledge, from 3D manufacturing to programming Micro Controllers, realization of printed circuits boards and 3D printing. I've focused my experience on the hybrid Powerunit: i built on the MoTeC VCU the operating strategies for hybrid combined management of electric motor and the internal combustion engine for the M182-H powertrain, the first hybrid car designed in our university. I also gained experience in calibrating PMSM motors, managing power inverters and internal combustion engine calibration at test bench. I've spent 5 months at our university engine test bench for the entire hybrid powerunit calibration. I designed the Battery Pack for the M182-H and spent 3 month in our laboratory to assemle and tesy at test bech the battery with an innovative solutions that dont required to weld the cells. I collaborate with companies in the area regarding the realization of the wiring for the engine test bench and for the M182-H car, for the battery pack improvement, for the Powerunit calibration.
