About Matthew Allen

I am passionate about connecting with people to understand their perspective and assist in meeting their goals. Through my work I have been fascinated by the variety of scope and impact that our natural resources work has had on communities throughout the Great Lakes states. As a motivated problem solver and diligent learner, I have developed proficiency in multiple levels of the environmental and natural resource management fields - from field methods and data collection to laboratory, geospatial (GIS), and statistical (R Programming Language) analyses. As a result of this work I have coauthored and developed map products featured in a scientific publication, carried out data interpretation and statistical analyses, calibrated and validated surface water models from ArcSWAT, orally presented updates and final deliverables to professional, academic, and concerned citizens, and written technical reports for communicating project deliverables with stakeholders and resource managers. Working in this field, I find joy in connecting people to their natural resources by listening, learning, and sharing. Through all of my experiences it has been my greatest passion to work with a team to connect with stakeholders or clients with the goal of producing high quality deliverables in a fast paced environment.
