About Matthew Allen

As a kid growing up in St. Louis, I was always driven by a desire to improve, whether it was mastering water polo, playing guitar, or snowboarding. I didn't know where it would take my career, but that drive shaped who I am. Looking back, the construction industry was the perfect fit. It’s an industry filled with opportunities to make a difference, but it also comes with challenges and inefficiencies. I discovered that my passion wasn’t just about personal growth—it was about creating better systems and solutions that positively impact people and communities. At ARCO/Murray, I get to turn that passion into action by designing and building projects that are as efficient as they are meaningful. Within the Tenant Solutions division, I’ve been lucky enough to work on a wide range of projects—from indoor agriculture and manufacturing facilities to art galleries, and from logistics hubs and adaptive reuse renovations to schools. Each project inspires me and reminds me of the impact construction has on everyday lives. One of the most rewarding experiences was leading the adaptive reuse renovation of The Field School on Chicago’s West Side. This 120+ year-old grade school included restoring its historic gym and and auditorium back to their original beauty. Watching future students and teachers tour the construction site and seeing their excitement brought the project to life and made it all worthwhile.
