A Summary: Captivated by the "why" behind the human mind, and fascinated by plant life-A Short Story: At the age of 18, my out-of-shape self decided to accompany a close friend in his endeavor to hike 21 miles in less than 24 hours. This decision let to the experience which I've labeled "The 7 Devils Mountain Range, and Me: a Tragedy." Quite a bit was learned on that hike, particularly about PREPARATION, PERSISTENCE, and PASSION. To truly be successful, you have to possess not one or two, but all three of these qualities. Preparation may get you where you need to go, but it won't keep you going. Persistence will keep you going, but on its own, the grindstone that's supposed to sharpen you will just wear you down. Passion, given purpose by preparation, and direction by persistence, will be the fire that breathes life and energy into everything you do, and it's the only one out of those three that will keep you going when everything else fails. I am prepared to succeed. I am persistent in improvement. I am passionate about learning and the pursuit of knowledge.
