About Matthew Bell

I advise governments on how to deliver better policy. I have held senior leadership positions in the public and private sector. I am an economist by training and I draw on a range of knowledge: industrial organisation, growth, consumer and public behaviour, evaluation and appraisal, best use and formulation of regulation, taxation, choice and competition for public services. I also draw on leadership skills from running one of the most successful private-sector advisory practices in Europe and from leading a major public sector organisation with direct responsibilities to the UK Parliament. I have worked with the highest levels of governments (in over 25 countries) to deliver clear, non-technical, strategic advice on which decisions can be made. I was awarded an OBE for services to combating climate change in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours for my role as CEO of the UK Committee on Climate Change.
