Background

About Matthew Bell

I am a recent graduate from Luther College (2024) with a Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science with a specialized interest in Environmental Justice and Law. I am currently planning on entering law school in the fall of 2024.In the spring of 2023, I completed a semester in Washington DC in which I took night classes while interning at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. As the Operations Intern for the Chamber of Commerce I was able to make many connections with individuals that work at nonprofits and learn the inner workings of nonprofit and local government relationships. During my final semester, I conducted a literature research project that discussed resources from the judicial system that would provide restorative environmental justice for communities. This allowed for me to better understand the factors that contribute to environmental injustice and to find hope in restorative justice for victims of environmental injustice. Studying the overlap of environmental justice and the judicial system allowed for me to focus on what I hope for my future career to look like as an environmental lawyer. In my free time, I enjoy being outside, playing the piano, going to bookstores, spending time with animals, and being with my friends.
