About Matthew Bornstein

I am responsible for planning and executing financial statement audits for sophisticated nonprofit organizations. I serve a variety of industries including charter schools and charter management organizations (CMOs), independent schools, colleges, and educational services organizations.I conduct audit solutions in accordance with Uniform Guidance/Single Audit and Government Auditing Standards, U.S. GAAP financial statement reporting, and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidance and requirements. I assist in the preparation of individual audit plans and review client operational policies and procedures to identify new areas of audit significance as appropriate. Through the course of the audit, I provide clear direction and resolve any questions that may arise, referring to management or senior auditors as appropriate.I have a strong track record in fiscal monitoring compliance. I also have expertise in the COSO Internal Control Integrated Framework along with the design, implementation, and management of an internal control system. I earned a B.A. from the University of Texas at Tyler and a COSO Internal Control Certificate from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
