About Matthew Boylan

Over the past 20 years I have gained substantial knowledge on the key workings of the pharmaceutical industry, both in Ireland and in the wider global community. I have worked in multinational companies with differing cultural and philosophical approaches to goals and targets. My current role in Jazz Pharmaceuticals is lead the drug substance development function and also to provide scientific and technical leadership for drug substance (primarily) development projects at various stages of the development life-cycle from early stage drug development through to commercial supply. Previously I worked for over seven years at Astellas where I lead and championed a change in culture how the Process Development team provided services to the site. At GSK where I for over eight years I worked in a multidisciplinary team based environment leading numerous technical transfers and gaining invaluable experience in the target driven projects. I am a resourceful, articulate, professional, PhD Chemist. I am detail orientated and methodical, possessing exceptional leadership and analytical capabilities. I have substantial experience in all areas of drug life cycle from early stage development through CMC development to commercial supply. I have a Lean Sigma Green Belt with extensive experience in using risk assessment tools and statistics to aid decision making, who demonstrates excellent planning and administration skills. I am a strong communicator and negotiator with exceptional interpersonal skills and have the ability to develop a strong rapport with groups and individuals at all levels. I possess the ability to explain complex matters in a simplified format.
