About Matthew Bristol

I’m a passionate higher education professional with a growing focus on international education, global engagement, and the intersections of policy, equity, and student success. With a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish and an M.Ed. in Higher and Adult Education in progress, I bring a unique blend of academic insight, cross-cultural experience, and student development expertise to every role I take on. Over the past several years, I’ve supervised globally diverse residential communities, supported international students and scholars, and led crisis response and CARE initiatives across university settings. My work has always centered on creating inclusive, supportive spaces where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive—whether in the classroom, in residence halls, or across institutional systems. My graduate thesis explores basic needs insecurity in university housing—an issue deeply tied to access, wellbeing, and retention in a global education landscape. I’ve also contributed to strategic planning efforts for international learners, managed budgets, and served on scholarship committees aimed at expanding global access to education. Through my fellowship with the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy, I’ve developed a strong foundation in ethical and collaborative leadership, preparing me to contribute to globally-focused education initiatives that prioritize people, context, and impact. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue building a career at the intersection of international education, public service, and global affairs—where I can help expand access, deepen intercultural understanding, and promote student success on a global scale.
