About Matthew Clara

My career at the State of Michigan has varied to some degree, but has been focused around electronic communication, primarily through the World Wide Web. I've run several websites, both internal and external, including MDARD, DEQ, and now the DNR, and have taken on various projects such as the collecting and indexing of digital assets, primarily images, into a single easily searched system at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. I enjoy the creative aspects of my job as well as simply helping people from colleagues to clients. I'm also the department's photographer, covering the whole gamut, from studio portraits, to landscape, event and night photography. Outside of work I enjoy canoeing and kayaking, camping and creative projects often involving woodworking. There my knowledge in computer design allows me to lay out projects in CAD programs, and-incorporating a small computer controlled router-cut them in the woodshop.
