About Matthew Cook

I have had an intense interest in and passion about the United States space program since I was 10 years old, and watched the space shuttle Columbia tragedy on a tv at a YMCA in between soccer matches. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of the team that ensured the safety and success of future space travelers. I am motivated to work with an organization that contributes significantly to the advancement of the human race. I thrive in rapidly evolving, innovative R&D environments, and am fascinated with research in space and advanced technology, and more specifically in unconventional space propulsion systems. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and have 4+ years of technical experience at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in the DOD Technologies Group. My current career goal is to gain education and experience to be a contributing factor in humanity's understanding, exploration, and utilization of the universe in which we live.
