About Matthew Cornu

I work primarily with children and adolescents of all ages and their families but also have experience working with individuals and couples with diverse backgrounds. I have worked with clients through various aspects of their lives including anxiety, depression, family transitions, trauma, social skills, and behavioral skills.I often incorporate both directive and non directive play therapy with children which can help them better express their emotions when they may not yet have the skills to verbalize. I also utilize but not limited to CBT, DBT, and EFT modalities with my clients to achieve goals for therapy. I believe understanding and empathizing with a client's unique set of strengths, interests, and desires build a strong therapeutic relationship. Which will then allow trust, collaboration, and a nonjudgemental atmosphere to be an integral part of the therapeutic process.
