About Matthew Croxton

PhD in Clinical Psychology. Diné/Navajo. Main areas of work are psychotherapy and psychological evaluation. I use Evidence Based Treatment and specialize in culturally adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy based psychological services and work with American Indian clients including older adults, adults, and youth. I am an Indian Health Services Scholar. I have seven years experience working with Natives as a psychologist in training, including a community mental health center on reservation, urban mental health center, and a tribal defenders office in conjunction with a tribal jail on reservation. I conduct culturally adapted individual psychotherapy, psychological evaluations, safety screenings, and work in conjunction with other mental health, medical, legal, and law enforcement professionals. My quantitative and qualitative research has been with American Indians and tribal communities, is resilience-based, conducted in the framework of community based participatory research and tribally driven participatory research. I have also given presentations and talks to tribal communities and also mental health, medical, and law enforcement workers.
