About Matthew Curry

Matthew is pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Adventure-Based Counseling at Prescott College. He strives to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where concerns can be explored collaboratively and compassionately. Within this space may arise opportunities for corrective emotional experiences, so that the wounds of the past may be reencountered and grieved and old coping mechanisms may be reappraised. He feels that many common problems may be rooted in negative beliefs about oneself and the world due to adverse experiences. He hopes that, in working together over time, a new sense of meaning, purpose and vibrancy emerges as values and actions are in greater alignment. Matthew serves as a student counselor at Allies in Change. His clinical interests include working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. He incorporates a systems lens, mindfulness, nature, accountability, radical acceptance, compassion, principles of recovery, and an experiential approach into his work with clients. He is passionate about getting to the root of conflict, upholding principles of nonviolence and supporting healthy relationships with self and others.
