About Matthew Davies
Dr Matthew Davies is a criminologist specialising in applying behavioural insights (BI) to public policy. He is a Principal Advisor at the New Zealand Department of Corrections behavioural science team. Matthew previously worked at the UK Behavioural Insights Team where he ran several BI trials across the criminal justice system. Prior to that, he worked as a policy researcher at RAND Europe, involved in a wide range of criminal justice research spanning policing, drugs policy and sentencing practice. Matthew completed a PhD in Criminology at the University of Oxford, where he conducted one of the first empirical examinations of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) policy. He holds an MPhil in Criminology & Criminological Research from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Criminology & Criminal Justice from the University of Leeds.
