About Matthew Dula

The average American, employed full time, spends nearly 24% of their hours completing tasks for their place of employment. This translates to almost a quarter of our time spent on implicit and passive work duties; both those seen in our job descriptions, and other essential functions such as collaborating with others in the workplace, building relationships, and spending time appraising what it means to be a good, and productive, employee. With so much at stake, finding a passion for our workday is an often overlooked, yet in my mind essential part of not only surviving, but thriving in today's fast paced work environments. Since 2011, my path had been clear. I've sought to better understand interactions between individuals, assist members of my community while functioning through the biopsychosocial framework, and meeting people where they're at to improve others lives. My niche in our community is in a profession that helps others succeed. I achieved my Bachelors in Social Work from Appalachian State University, and quickly began working with individuals with mental health or legal barriers towards finding gainful employment, as an employment specialist with Family Preservation Services. Eventually life circumstances brought me to Ohio, and I began a fruitful, yet intense, five year employment with Netcare Access as a Crisis Clinician, working with some of the most marginalized members of our community; those with significant mental health or substance abuse challenges. Following achieiving my MSW in 2020, I was able to secure employment through The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, assisting individuals on the PCU primarily with discharge planning for physical health needs and follow-up. With a wide array of experience in the social work field, I feel that I am positioned uniquely to respond to difficult and diverse situations regardless of my job description.I am looking forward to wherever my path towards assisting others find their health and happiness takes me.
