About Matthew Edwards

With over seven years of work experience in chemical engineering research and development, I am a passionate and driven Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Nottingham. My core competencies include process development, scale-up, and optimization of photochemical, electrochemical, biocatalytic, and thermal reactions in continuous flow. My mission is to apply innovative and sustainable solutions to address the challenges and opportunities in the chemical industry. I have a strong background in chemistry, catalysis, and reactor technology, and I am always eager to learn new skills and collaborate with diverse teams.In my current role at UoN, I am involved in the utilisation of inline PAT (IR and UV-vis) for rapid reaction optimisation and screening of multi-step flow syntheses. I also supervise and mentor PhD, Masters, and summer students, and contribute to the dissemination of research results through publications and presentations. Some of the skills that I use and develop in this role are process development, research and development, photochemistry, electrochemistry, biocatalysis, thermal reactions, continuous flow, PAT, IR, UV-vis, supervision, mentoring, communication, and teamwork.
