About Matthew Einhorn

Helping people and creating things; that’s what I live for. I thought nothing would give me a rush quite like running into a building that’s on fire; that is until I jumped headfirst into the deep end of my passion, filmmaking. My “day job” is a firefighter, but with all the free time I have on my days off from running calls, I started to pursue my long-desired passion of acting and filmmaking. I quickly learned the process of filmmaking has a lot of cogs in the wheel that are challenging to manage. Fortunately, problem solving is something I love to do and I’m pretty darn good at it. If you think making a film is high pressure, try getting three freaked out, biting, and snapping dogs from a burning house while the owner yells, “Save my babies!” Fortunately, working a fireground is very similar to filmmaking. There are a lot of people counting on you while screaming they need things done immediately and to perfection. Producing, casting, writing, directing, and acting in a web series I created was a humbling experience. It was trial by fire to the extreme. While no one likes to make mistakes, I believe that you learn more from your mistakes than you do your successes. I was thrilled with the result and learned a great deal along the way about efficiency and when to delegate responsibility. It also taught me how much I enjoyed every aspect of the filmmaking process and how much I truly desired to be involved in filmmaking, no matter the role. Even outside of work I love the creative process and problem solving. I play Dungeons and Dragons, as well as other role-playing and board games, with my friends almost every week. There’s just something about getting lost in a fantasy world that’s very cathartic. I’d also be lying if I didn’t mention I was a huge sports fan. I’m still holding out hope that one day I’ll see my team win the Superbowl.
