Background
About Matthew Evans
I’m a 20+ year veteran of the engineering consulting business and am passionate about working with clients to solve their solid waste and environmental challenges. Currently, I’m working on a broad range of exciting solid waste projects that include landfill and landfill gas system design, as well as planning-related projects such as organics diversion implementation, solid waste master planning, and consulting related to the management of oil and gas exploration and production wastes. I really enjoy working for clients and getting to know them. My greatest satisfaction is when I earn clients’ trust, and they open up to me as if I’m one of their staff members… and sometimes, a friend. I’m a Minnesota native and have spent the majority of my life here. My wife and I have three kids and have really settled into the St. Paul community that we live in. Although my ties are strong to Minnesota, my solid waste experiences have given me the opportunity to work across the U.S. and abroad. International work has always been an interest of mine. I really enjoy seeing how others live and how they face their solid waste challenges. I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with city leaders in Nigeria, Vietnam, and Peru as part of my involvement with the Bill Clinton Foundation. I’m also currently assisting University of Minnesota students within their Engineering Without Borders program. This gives me the chance to work on projects for small communities where fixing an engineering challenge can have huge positive impacts. It’s just so invigorating to keep connected with the young, talented students at the U of M and to see their eagerness to improve the world we live in. I also keep active in the Minnesota Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), of which I’m a board member of. It helps me stay connected with the engineering industry and build my professional skills.
