About Matthew Exley

I am an award winning, Pennsylvania Certified Emergency Manager and Healthcare Security Administrator. I have an extensive background in emergency management, including the leading the response to multiple widespread flooding events in the municipality, a tornado in 2017 that destroyed several neighborhoods and a major snow storm that dumped 5' of snow in 2 days in 2017. I serve as the co-incident commander for our COVID-19 pandemic response and authored the pandemic plan for the hospital. I have helped lead the response to multiple MCI's, power and water outages, flooding, patient moves from old building to new and multiple severe weather events. I also help lead a team of dynamic Public Safety officers whose mission is to serve as ambassadors and protect our growing community hospital. I also specialize in community engagement and have significant experience as a public information officer. I was the go-to for local, national and international media while in my position as Director of Emergency Management and developed a department social media presence that ballooned from 100 to followers. In addition, I am a Public Information Officer Instructor and have instructed a course in social media for emergency managers at the Keystone Emergency Management Association Conference. I was honored to receive the following awards- Keystone Emergency Management Association 2018 Paul R Beatty Partnership Award Recipient - Keystone Emergency Management Association 2015 Municipal Coordinator Award for Excellence Recipient I also led my former department to receive the Life Safety Achievement Award in 2015 and 2017 as well as being named the Community Hero in 2018 by the American Red Cross.
