Matthew Fineout, is an Architectural Director for AE7. He is the Architectural Director-in-Charge of the world’s second tallest tower at over 700M in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, project and owner undisclosed at this time. Matthew’s background is steeped in large and complex projects including super and mega tall towers, airports, museums, concert halls and projects similar in scale and complexity. Matthew has directed some of the most prominent projects around the globe noted for the technical innovations and complexity. For the Mexico City New International Airport a joint venture between Foster + Partners and Fernando Romero EnterprisE, from CD through CA Matthew was Director-in Charge of the building envelope, a five million square feet, free-form shell structure valued at $1.3 billion USD, and the first of its kind in the world. For the Atlassian Tower in Sydney Australia, the tallest timber and steel hybrid tower in the world at 35 stories, Matthew served as Technical Director for EC3 that drafted the sustainable initiatives for the project. In 2010 Matthew founded Smart Architecture, an architectural consultancy specializing in complex geometric projects, their rationalization and execution for construction. Smart Architecture has introduced innovations to projects around the globe including the Soumaya Museum in Mexico City, Argul Weave in Bursa Turkey, NOBIS in Istanbul Turkey, La Machine L1212 in Manhattan to name a few. Matthew’s formative background, a decade of work at Frank Gehry & Associates, includes the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao Spain; the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, Bard College; the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University; and the Weisman Art Museum, University of Minnesota. This work introduced CATIA aerospace software into the AEC industry to solve and execute complex architectural projects in which Matthew played an instrumental role. Matthew has written extensively on the resolution and execution of complex projects presenting papers and keynote lectures in conferences in North America, Europe and Asia. Responsible and Smart Cities Volume 2 Edited by IEREK and published by Springer International includes Matthews most recent publication ‘The Mexico City New International Airport: A Case Study in Environmentally Sensitive Geometries’
