Every living being is an engine geared to the wheelwork of the universe. Though seemingly affected only by its immediate surrounding, the sphere of external influence extends to infinite distance.” Nikola Tesla I have always been intrigued by Nikola Tesla who has changed the whole world by his creative genius. Although, I may not reach what Nikola achieved, I have had many successes in my life. Business became my passion and understanding numbers is as important as anything. The undergraduate accounting program provided me with more opportunities than I could ever have hoped for. I was fortunate to partake in three internships, which allowed me to gain real-world experience and grow as a professional. I experience a wide variety of accounting areas such as payroll processing, bookkeeping, accounts payable, and quarterly reporting. I prepared financial statements and other financial reports for employers, notifying managers of any discrepancies. I maintained a working knowledge of tax laws and tax preparation software, building my own tax business. I chose to attend Lakeland University for two reasons. First, I really wanted to stay motivated in my career path and attend a school with a strong business program. Second, Lakeland’s MBA program invites students to design their own concentration. I am interested in several business areas in including financial analysis, valuations of companies, cost management, but most of all I want to develop my management skills in hopes to have better opportunities in the future. To achieve my goals I take extracurricular courses heavily concentrated in excel in areas cost accounting, capital budgeting, company valuations, pivot tables/charts. I have learned many things in my career. One that has held with me the most and my advice for future students is to get out of your comfort zone. Become involved and be outgoing. Meet as many people as possible will be almost as valuable to you as your education.
