About Matthew Guy

My career path has not been a conventional one. After traveling throughout Europe and then chasing winters as a ski instructor in Canada, New Zealand and Australia I found myself attracted to the less conventional hours of hospitality. The food, the wine, the generous amount of free time, they all just worked for me. After 10 years and having the opportunity to manage some incredible eateries I decided to move into the corporate space. Working for Clayton Utz for 4 years in catering allowed me to really find the skills needed to flourish in a 9-5 world. Fast forward to 2022 and the time was right to move into a career in IT. My curious mind along with communication and management skills acquired from all of the years working in restaurants was a perfect springboard to launch. Whilst I lean towards a management skill set, the tech definitely keeps me very interested. Diving deep into the Microsoft architecture has been the foundation I have built for my career and have been blessed with such a supportive employer in Comp Now. My journey into IT begun with a placement at CPA on their service desk and after a successful placement I joined the Comp Now service desk for a period before my biggest challenge this far. I have most recently completed a placement with Berry Street, leading a team on a device hybrid InTune deployment, talk about out of the frying pan and into the fryer! Presence, commitment and the ability to create and maintain relationships are at the core of my journey, whether that may be professional or personal.
