About Matthew Heim

I currently support Curiox Biosystems as an Automation Specialist, providing customized programming of automation packages (primarily using Hamilton Venus) and field support. I previously served as a chemist and product specialist in Mettler-Toledo's Process Analytics R&D division. I designed and refined new products for ultra-pure water analysis. My duties primarily entailed sensitive (single ppb level) analytical testing and product troubleshooting, but I also have a hand in project management, manufacturing development/improvement, procedure writing, and product training. I am familiar with a wide variety of water purification and analysis technologies, and chemical treatments for the power generation industry. My position at Mettler-Toledo stemmed as a result of my work as a microchip capillary electrophoresis (MCE) separations chemist for Advanced MicroLabs. My primary responsibility was devising and optimizing separations for process water in the power generation and perchlorate remediation industries. As Advanced MicroLabs is a small company, I also had a direct role in writing and editing journal submissions, device manufacturing, and system architecture troubleshooting. In my earlier days, I fabricated and tested organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) as part of a SBIR. I used clean room techniques, inert atmosphere boxes, vapor deposition processes, and scanning electron microscopes to assemble and characterize the devices.
