Background
About Matthew Jankowski
I have extensive experience in the areas of bioinformatics, metabolomics, systems biology, scientific programming, and extensive experience working as a mentor and facilitator in industry. At Northwestern I engaged in the study of native and novel 'genome scale' metabolic networks. For example, to conduct analyses on the interactions of the thousands of reactions and metabolites in a 'genome scale' metabolic network of E. coli, I developed algorithms to identify substructures in chemical compounds. The group identification software I developed may be used in conjunction with software and databases that are part of the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG). My intent to produce reports of analysis in a concise, reader-friendly format, akin to the output of TurboTax or Quicken. Before my graduate studies, I worked extensively as a consultant on multidisciplinary teams composed of colleagues and customers to implement business plans, conduct operational analysis and develop products. I received training from the Carlson Business School in the area of New Product Development and cross functional groups. At Advantek, I made use of this training to quantitatively justify any major expenditure in New Product Development and use project managment techniques to identify the steps necessary to develop and improve our product. At Kaplan Educational I worked closely with my colleagues to make timely and instrumental changes that improved the overall quality of the Kaplan program. Due to my ability to motivate and guide the students to understand and develop their skills and confidence necessary for success, I was quickly promoted to Lead Instructor and eventually was responsible to instructor training as well. This is the strong work ethic, robust analysis style, and conscientiousness of quality and consistency I bring to any project Specialties: Scientific programming, software development, manufacturing engineering, thermal packaging design, education consulting, standardized test preparation, process design, process management.
