About Matthew Johnson

I have over 15 years of educational experience spanning the globe from the United States, Ecuador, Thailand, Myanmar, China, and currently South Korea. The characteristics that guide my daily interactions with students, parents, teachers, and administrators are: creating positive dialogue and collaborating with all school stakeholders to support student learning; setting high expectations that challenge students to excel academically; creating a safe and caring environment where all students feel comfortable to be challenged and grow; building positive rapport with teachers and guiding as an instructional leader; and supporting all students in becoming active, life-long learners. I am passionate about collaborating with colleagues and using best practice (i.e. technology) to enhance classroom instruction and school-home communication. My initiative, creativity, organization, and knowledge of international education allow me to be an integral part of maximizing student learning, improving teacher instruction, and further enhancing school programs and curriculum. My wife, a first grade teacher at Shekou International School in China, is one of the most passionate and talented educators with whom I have worked. I am extremely fortunate to have her as my biggest support and advocate.
