I am adept when it comes to the use of a linear ion trap mass spectrometer. In addition, I have effectively gathered data regarding the relative abundances of ionized clusters of small molecules. In my research, I have studied the relative abundances of ionized methanol and methanol clusters at either various pressures or repeller voltages. Gaussian 03 was used to graphically represent the lowest energy conformations of ionized methanol and its larger aggregates. In addition, we used a program called Wells to determine the rate constants for the formation of the methanol cluster dimer and for the formation of the ether product. Wells was also used to adjust the relative depths of the wells on the reaction coordinate diagram for the dimer and ether product formations. Our findings were presented at the Florida Annual Meeting and Exposition (FAME).
