Mechanical and Materials Engineer with a focus in Mechanical Design, Aviation, Material Processes and Applications, Internal Combustion Engines, and Test Engineering. One of my proudest accomplishments in my career is my development of a novel surface tension testing device for the purpose of prescreening Sustainable Aviation Fuels at sub-zero operating temperatures and cold-start ignition. Current fuel certification processes require high volumes of fuels that take many years and millions of dollars to develop. The data collected by the new prescreening process developed by the National Jet Fuels Combustion Program and performed at the University of Dayton Heyne Energy and Appropriate Technologies Lab is highly valuable due to its low volume requirements. Newly developed biofuels can cost upwards of even at volumes as low as 5 milliliters. Understanding the properties that dominate combustion at various conditions is critical to determining the viability of a fuel at higher tiers of the certification process. I was able to design this device through many iterations of designs using Computational Fluid Dynamics and principles of materials engineering, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics. Throughout the design process, I was able to optimize the heat transfer of cold working fluid throughout a thermally designed chamber into 5 milliliter aviation fuel samples with a uniform heat distribution while designing to overcome the many technical challenges, such as condensation and electrical build-up, autonomous data collection, and safety requirements.2 years experience of Manufacturing and Test Engineering in the Medical Industry.1 year experience of Mechanical Design and Test Engineering in the Aerospace Industry.
