About Matthew Klene

United States Army veteran, serving 20 years as an active duty NCO in the United States Army. During my enlistments in the Army, I was able to serve in positions that covered the full spectrum of the Public Affairs Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) in a variety of situations, including three deployments in support of the Global War on Terror, two tours in Germany and one in Korea. I won 1st place in the 2015 Keith L. Ware Public Affairs Broadcast Journalism Awards in Audio Entertainment Program and Audio Feature Report. I am passionate about delivering accurate and up-to-date information to the audience as quickly as possible. I got my first taste of broadcasting and journalism as an on-air radio DJ for Rice University and a local reporter for a small weekly paper,"Houston's Other."​ In my time in the military, I've gained experience in writing news copy, drafting public affairs guidance and press releases, coordinating news media events, and supervising and leading a department of up to 17 public affairs professionals. I've also acted as the senior advisor to multiple organizations in all facets of public affairs and social media engagements.
