About Matthew Kois
January 2020 I graduated with a M.S. Mental Health Counseling at SUNY Brockport. I have taken the last 14 months for a planned personal sabbatical across 41 states solo for life experience, interaction with diverse cultures, and my love for our public lands all on a budget. I have recently ended my sabbatical and moved back to Rochester, NY. I am pursuing any positions as a Mental Health Counselor or College Counselor. I have clinical experience in outpatient and inpatient settings, and a wide array of demographic backgrounds. In addition to clients diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related, BPD, schizophrenia, substance-use disorders, and lethality concerns. I have adopted a heavy CBT and person centered approach, with DBT techniques when necessary after learning these techniques while co-faciliting a DBT group. I look forward to formally entering the field as a mental health professional and gain the necessary experience for licensure.
