About Matthew Kowasic

Hi there and thank you for perusing my profile. I am 54yrs old and have an extensive background in various disciplines including supporting individuals who are I.D.D./ Mental health. I am very passionate about the fields of Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities. Using my Special Education degree I taught at several schools and various grade levels. I have functioned as a Direct Support Professional at three different locations serving the IDD population (including my current position). I worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support for about 3yrs. I also worked for one year at an LTSR with persons who were court ordered to a locked facility for treatment. I am a compassionate person and advocate for various marginalized communities. I have volunteered in the past for various agencies assisting HIV persons, as well as being a volunteer at local Salvation Army holiday meals. Recently, I have been a hospice volunteer and just completed an "End of Life Doula" certification. I am very involved in my faith and am an Orthodox Christian.
