About Matthew Luxon

As part of the remarkable Zero Waste movement, I've had the privilege of establishing a number of community enterprises providing waste diversion services over the past 10 years. In my current role as founding chief executive of Localised, I am surrounded by a team of talented and passionate individuals specialising in joint ventures with 'for-purpose' community organisations to establish Zero Waste Hubs within their local communities. We are based in Auckland and are involved in projects throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. In this work I am aware that we are 'standing on the shoulders of giants' and owe much to the generation of Zero Waste pioneers and community activators that have gone before. I'm particularly grateful to the mentors who have graciously shared their knowledge and experiences with me over the years, and those that continue to do so. I enjoy the challenge of establishing community-led enterprises that are financially sustainable, politically active, while creating positive social and envionmental impact for their communities and Aotearoa, and the diverse range of people that allows me to connect with.
