About Matthew Madden

Hello, I'm Matthew! My two passions are sports and airlines, and both are well represented in my LinkedIn activity. Ever since I was a kid, I have been playing sports and looking to the sky every time I hear an airplane fly over. As a student, I enjoyed involvement in many areas. Most of my time was spent with my teammates on the golf team, but I also enjoyed working on sports business projects. I specialized in using analytics to optimize sports performance, but I also enjoyed using analytics for marketing purposes. At Samford, our sports marketing/analytics program gave us many opportunities to get hands on experience with teams and brands. I worked with a Minor League Baseball team, a National Women's Soccer League team, an English Football Club, and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Outside of class, I interned with Southwest Airlines, the Center for Sports Analytics, and a fintech licensing company called University Fancards. I also led the analytics teams working for Samford Strength & Conditioning as well as the Men's Golf Team. I was also fortunate to be a part of the Leadership Team at FCA.
