About Matthew Mak

Hi! I am currently studying in Temasek Polytechnic as a Year 2 student in Pharmaceutical Sciences as sciences has always intrigued me and piqued my interest. Even since back in secondary school, I have shown my ability to put myself up for challenges and take on roles with responsibilities and leadership, such as when i became the captain of the table tennis CCA. I fostered a team that was built on cooperation and determination, ensuring that everyone grows together and push each other forward. Along the way, i have picked up some soft skills such as project management, interpersonal and customer service skills and developed my communication abilities. These allow me to also become more adaptable and flexible in all that i do. I have also picked up several technical skills through my Pharmaceutical Science studies, such as learning how to operate several machines and perform processes such as a UV-VIS Spectrometer, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, and medicine compounding along with filling of medical capsules. I have first hand experience performing Cell Counting, Gram Staining, Cell Culturing and Trypsinization. I am also honing my abilities to accurately dispense correct medications to patients via their prescriptions and ensure that prescription interventions are performed when necessary in case of any errors. I have learnt how to fill the patient's supply table, pack their medications and also counsel them on how to take their medication for optimal benefits. I strive to improve myself everyday even if it is just a little, and do my best regardless. My diligent attitude to learning and optimistic mindset allows me to push myself forward each day. Any opportunity that comes my way would continue to further develop me. I am sure that my experiences would be of value to any team or organisation!
