About Matthew Michetti

As a young man, Curiosity and study of human experience motivated an early career in mental health provision. After 25 hours of clinical experience and significant success in family violence and suicide prevention, therapy, mediation, program and community development, I entered the energy industry as an Indigenous consultant, describing operations and project development and negotiating appropriate accommodations. I will always be grateful for this experience as I gained tremendous insight into business and project development, market dynamics, politics and human nature. I also bolstered my skills in mediation, negotiation, consensus building and relationship management. A few years ago, a serendipitous crisis allowed me to realize a quest for challenge and purpose by placing me in a management role with an Indigenous community. Creating governance procedures, economic development plans, member benefits and external relations for a group ready and able to take their place in Canada was an amazing experience and validated that I had found my path. That journey has led to my current role as a project manager and government relations with a Northern Alberta First Nation. This is a very dynamic and creative position my background in energy and resource development has been a benefit to the Nation as we develop new business. I feel fortunate to be in such good company and to be relied on to manage our several civil and commercial construction projects, creating an on reserve economy while stewarding to community infrastructure modernization. I’m honored to contribute to a vision of Indigenous economic growth, equality and self government in Canada while pursuing new markets and developments that will ultimately benefit the many.
