About Matthew Molinaro
I am a PhD student in the Department of English and Women and Gender Studies institute at the University of Toronto. My current research focuses on literary, cultural, and intellectual histories of the African diaspora in North America, Britain, and Italy. Previously Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune at McGill University, I now work as Graduate Bureau Chief at The Varsity. In 2022-23, I served on McGill’s Department of English’s hiring committee where I successfully pushed for the creation of tenure-track positions for two Black feminist scholars. Across academia, journalism, and activism, I tell stories about freedom dreams and struggles for justice. To this end, for my reporting and commentary on how slavery, colonialism, and protests shape our present times, I have been interviewed by the CBC, CTV, CJAD800, CKUT, and The Maple.
