About Matthew Popo

My passion for working with young people started in university, where I studied Criminology, and the building of my momentum for change continued as I engaged many roles within residential social care, grassroots community football, the VCS sector and finally, education. My work has taken me all over the country but finds it origins within Birmingham’s inner-city communities; where I grew to understand the great opportunities and the deep challenges that some young people face as they navigate their adolescent years. I have proudly positioned Wethnk to be an organisation for all interested in youth work practice, pastoral care, engagement strategy, parenting advice and techniques and most importantly, an organisation for the young people themselves. Through direct work with young people and training for youth facing professionals, Wethnk will promote the agenda of positive youth engagement and the importance of youth centred approaches.
