About Matthew Putnam

I am a former athlete for the University of Southern Utah. I played football for 17 years and it has been the foundation of who I am today. I started football when I was 6 and played almost every position in football while in pop warner. I also played baseball, ran track, played soccer and basketball during my pop warner years. Jr. high I started focusing more on track, football, and basketball. However I still played baseball on a few comp. teams and also wrestled for the junior high 1 year where I went undefeated. I attended Layton high school where I was a 3 sport athlete in track, basketball and football. Football being my number 1 sport. I broke a lot of records in track and football for the high school. That earned me a scholarship to Snow College where I continued my football career. We went to 3 bowl games in my 3 years there, one being the national championship when I played as a freshman. We won 2/3 bowl games and only lost 5 games total in the 3 years I was there. Snow College was ranked top 5 in the nation in all my years attending there. After Snow College I was asked by coach Lamb, Head football coach at SUU, to walk on. So I walked on that spring of 2012 and worked my butt off to a starting position and full ride scholarship in that spring. Football can relate to so many scenarios in life and can help you over come major obstacles from the teachings of my coaches and former teammates.
