Web Developer, Journeyman Plumber and Gasfitter, Mountaineer After completing my plumbing ticket, I discovered the world of online business and eventually web development. Through a lot of trial and error creating and developing websites of my own, I decided that I wanted to get some professional instruction and pursue web development as a career. I signed up for a fast track course at SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) for Web Development and after 4 months in class and a 2 month practicum I landed my first full time position as a Junior Dev in 2014. Web technologies & frameworks I've worked with- Front-end basics (HTML, JS, CSS - SCSS, LESS)- CSS preprocessors like gulp, grunt, and parcel - Front end frameworks like Bootstrap & Foundation - JS Libraries & Frameworks - React (most experienced with)- Redux (state management)- NextJS - Angular - jQuery - NodeJS - Typescript - NPM - Webpack - Google App Script - Google BigQuery - PHP & SQL - Elasticsearch - SEO and Accessibility (best practices in terms of dev) Web Services - Heroku - AWS Content Management Systems - Contentful - Silverstripe - Magento - Drupal - Wordpress - Squarespace - Shopify - AEM Design Programs - Photoshop - Sketch - Abstract - Figma Past Journeyman Plumber and Gasfitter The hands on and practical work experience I gained while plumbing has transferred nicely over to my web work, by giving me a realistic view of what customers are looking for in a service based industry. This has allowed me to focus on customer satisfaction and improve my overall working relationship with my clients. In service plumbing, my main area of expertise was trouble shooting problems, while finding /implementing solutions which sometimes required thinking outside the box. I am a focused, action oriented problem solver who is always eager to learn and try new things. I graduated from SAIT as a Journeyman Plumber and Gasfitter (B) with Red Seal Certification. Most of my apprenticeship consisted of residential and commercial service and repair work. Meaning troubleshooting problems, and applying solutions. This also included some light renovations, and rough-in work as well.
