About Matthew Robson

Matthew is an ecologist based in north Wales with 17 years’ experience in UK environmental, wildlife and countryside management in the public, private and voluntary sectors. He currently works as an ecological early works supervisor for a large infrastructure project. He has led and worked on projects for numerous public sector clients including brownfield development, flood defence schemes, road and bridge construction and environmental aftercare monitoring. He has also carried out reporting for the Northern Ireland Environment & Heritage Service in relation to Special Areas of Conservation, Natura sites and Special Protection Areas. He has extensive experience of extended Phase 1 habitat surveys, mycological and NVC surveys, hedgerow surveys and species surveys for freshwater invertebrates, great crested newts, bats, reptiles, otter and water voles. He holds licences for GCN and badgers and is a full member of CIEEM. Prior to joining Jacobs in 2006, Matthew was the Ecologist for Earth Tech Ltd where he was responsible for undertaking habitat surveys and the development of appropriate mitigation for proposed pipeline routes and related construction projects within numerous MOD sites. His experience also included noise monitoring, mycological survey, hedgerow assessment and assessment of watercourses. Before working in industry, Matthew pursued a research and lecturing background in environmental management and the organic, inorganic and biological analysis of water quality. This encompassed sampling and identification of macroinvertebrates, the determination of heavy metal and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon pollution and organic pollutant determination within natural watercourses and the sedimentary sink. He has also spent 2 years in the voluntary sector working for the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers as a forestry supervisor.
