About Matthew Roper

I have 10 years of experience and am a registered architect practicing out of Stantec Edmonton’s Buildings Group. My gold medal thesis examined the relationships of threshold, form, program, and connectivity between architecture and activating the surrounding public realm. I continue to use this architectural approach through the various projects I have been involved in during my professional practice at Stantec; resulting in community informed, program based, architectural responses. The continual study of the interaction between the urban realm and built form has resulted in my skillful participation in transformative urban developments. Recent involvement in multiple ICE District projects, Edmonton Tower and Stantec Tower, as well as Lewis Farms Facility and Park have enhanced my skills in grasping a clear comprehension and design clarity to complex, large scale projects, and innovative works. I am actively involved in the office’s design studio with special interests contributing to, and advancing, the office’s sustainable portfolio and research and development initiatives.
