About Matthew Sackey

Making things work better is what I enjoy most in my job. I love building and improving systems and processes that deliver a better experience for users or customers, reduce cost and improve controls. On a good day, I can hit all three! I have experience in designing processes that connect different functional areas including retail operations, supply chain, eCommerce, IT, finance and more, helping them achieve their objectives. I do this by drawing on my many years in retail, across a variety of roles and industry segments, which has given me a very broad understanding of how things work in business, particularly in retail. My time in Internal Audit has given me a deep understanding of risk and controls, including what makes them work and what makes them fail. I have implemented and maintained a number of risk management and Corporate Governance initiatives such as a formal internal audit program, risk registers, a whistle blower hotline, delegation of authority policies and more. Doing all of this sees me regularly involved in project work, and I can deliver business initiatives from idea through to completion. I have experience as project lead as well as contributing as a specialist within a project team. I have highly effective written and verbal communication skills. I can clearly and concisely summarise complex issues and findings, and present recommendations in way that drives action.
