Background
About Matthew Solomon
Currently, I am in a transitional period in my professional life. I am presently leaving the culinary and restaurant industry to pursue a career in education. After going back to school in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic, I received a Bachelor’s in History. Shortly after, I enrolled in the Rutgers Alternative Route Program to work towards my standard teaching license in Social Studies. This evolution is not as shocking as it may seem; I have always been a student of history, even when receiving my culinary degree, where I was drawn to the connection between food and culture. I also have years of hands-on experience working with and leading kids. I have served in many roles within summer camps and youth groups for several years and have found great joy and purpose when working with kids. My current position as a paraprofessional only furthered my passion for education and allowed me to gain more experience in the classroom and school settings.
