About Matthew Sowyrda

I studied psychology at Colby-Sawyer College, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in May 2019. During the summer of 2018, I volunteered with the Stoneham Public Library, where I filed local records and other pertinent documents that were to be digitized into an online archive. At the end of Fall 2018, I made the Dean's List with a 3.64 GPA. From December 2018 to April 2019, I interned at The Fuller House of Stoneham, where I assisted in the many activities involving the elderly residents. I am currently employed at the Stoneham Public Library, where I have been working since 2019, when I began as a page. At that time, my tasks were primarily reshelving returned materials and filling item requests from patrons. After that, I was promoted to a Circulation Technician, where I took on such responsibilities as patron registration, utilizing the phone system, conducting catalogue searches, and material deselection procedures. Some of these duties are still present in my position as a Senior Circulation Technician, which I have held since November 2021. However, I took on - and continue to take on - new roles. Among these is that of producing signage and publicity through Canva, editing the library's monthly newsletter, facilitating programs for Stoneham's adult demographic, producing material for the library's Book Service Podcast, and composing puzzles that are enjoyed by patrons and staff alike.
