As a reliability engineer I ensure all types of work are carried out by myself and my team of maintainer operators with a sharp eye for detail. This work is supervised by myself and it is my duty to ensure the machines are ready for operational service and that all repairs and services are completed to a high standard. Planning scheduled major services, repairs and sourcing parts needed to undertake tasks, ensuring the required people are informed and prepared for the task. When at my desk I am replying to emails and looking into modifications to enhance our fleet of machines. Updating any required documentation and tracking any outstanding faults with our in house self developed fault trend analysis system. I work with my team and report on progress to my engineering manager where we take action when needed to ensure repairs, services and operational work is running smoothly, safely and completed to a schedule. As an operator of all our cranes I can sense from sound and feel if the machines are working correctly and if any fault is occuring or potential for failure meaning the issue at hand can be delt with before it becomes a problem. Operating 12 hours shifts day or night to a high standard ensuring safety is paramount. Not only do I operate the machines, I oversee the operation from the ground during operational work keeping a close eye on staff members, rail infrastructure and the task at hand.
