About Matthew Stares

An experienced leader across diverse disciplines and geographies. At MillerKnoll, reporting to the Chief Creative and Product Officer, I lead a global team responsible for all aspects of the corporate real estate portfolio of our fifteen brands, in all geographies. This spans all activity in global real estate strategy and leasing, Architecture, interiors, exhibition and experience design, workplace strategy, retail store design and development, project management, facilities management, physical security and other associated services for our 11 million ft² office, showroom, retail, manufacturing, distribution and hospitality portfolio. As the creator, and custodian of our physical places, the vision I have for our people, our communities and our planet is part of a hypothesis that the built environment is not only a setting we provide for the activities of work but also a living example of the standards we set for ourselves, our customers and our role in the welfare of the global community. Approaching all facets of my work with design thinking, the development and application of coherent, sustainable resolutions to problems, that are both beautiful and useful, is the outcome of rigorous dialogue between imagination and necessity. Leading globally dispersed teams across a wide spectrum of functional divisions to World-class results is only possible with an openness to surprise and an expansive capacity for change. I thrive on potential and the judicious steps we can take toward it.
