About Matthew W.

Born to a family of motivated entrepreneurs, Matt developed a keen eye for enterprise and a taste for adventure at a young age. Before earning his BS at the USC Leventhal School of Accounting, Matt started his first business with Proper co-founder Mark Rojas - a surfboard manufacturing company out of Newport Beach, California. Today, Matt is an expert in the realms of finance, accounting and entrepreneurship. With years of technical accounting experience under both IFRS and US GAAP, Matt has served alongside the world's most elite financial professionals. Celebrated for his ability to manage diverse stakeholders while handling complex multinational transactions and running high-quality global teams, Matt has spent his career passionately honing skills across many areas of the financial sector. His journey of professional service began at Ernst & Young where he earned his CPA and learned technical accounting with an emphasis on Real Estate. His passion for adventure and thirst for growth then led him to Australia where he worked with Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers for four years, learning even more about overseas business and furthering his technical finance experience. His next adventure was to return to his home state of California, start a family, and join the global accounting & FPA teams at Electronic Arts. There, he spearheaded major enhancements in their processes, working directly with key executives and stakeholders. Then Proper Technologies was born, granting him the opportunity to refocus back on his passion for entrepreneurship and team up with his old friend and partner, Mark. All of Matt’s professional experiences in the worlds of finance, real estate, and operations left him uniquely qualified to take on the role of CFO at Proper.
