Background
About Matthew Walker
Examples of my industry-based machine-learning and data-science experience include: analysing the benefits of treatment-induced erythema for skin diseases, deep-learning to detect tourists on the wrong side of the road, automated analysis of high-rise buildings, Monte-Carlo financial modelling of a business case, and assessing Fonterra’s milk-price model. Examples of software solutions I have designed include: synchronised audio conferencing and audio processing (on AWS EC2 servers), simulation of team dynamics, automated experimentation for process optimization, and automated redundancy checking of a data-centre’s power distribution system. I have a doctorate in a field of artificial intelligence called Genetic Programming, or the automated production of code. My post-doctorate used the same technique, but for multi-objective optimisation, working with the Defence Department in Canada. I enjoy learning languages and have professional development experience in Python, Javascript, R, Java, C/C++, SQL, SkySpark’s Axom and Fantom, and proprietary Basic for PLCs.
